Prince William has returned to royal duties following his wife Catherine, Princess of Wales' surgery and his father King Charles' cancer diagnosis.

The Prince of Wales, 41, took several weeks off to care for Catherine, 42, and their three children after she underwent abdominal surgery at a London hospital last month and he was subsequently hit by the news the King had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer which was picked up when he underwent treatment for an enlarged prostate.

However, William went back to work on Wednesday (07.02.24) to lead an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle on behalf of Charles during which he presented an MBE to England footballer Ellen White.

William is also expected to attend a charity gala for the London Air Ambulance service on Wednesday evening (07.02.24) in his role as patron of the organisation.

The Daily Mail newspaper has reported William is not expected to return to full time royal duties just yet as he will be spending time with Catherine and the children during the half-term break.

An insider told the publication: “The Prince has always made clear that his priority is to support his wife and family for the time being – and he did not put a timescale on that.

“He will make a return to duties on Wednesday but you should not expect to see him again for a bit after that.”

The Mail reported it is understood William has his dad’s “100 per cent” backing in returning to royal duties at his own pace.

A source added: “The King adores Catherine and thinks she is doing a wonderful job. He understands that family comes first."

King Charles has postponed all of his upcoming public engagements following his cancer diagnosis while Catherine is not expected to return to a frontline role until after Easter.
