Anita Rani dances whenever she is feeling stressed.

The 49-year-old presenter has revealed that she seeks solace in dancing to give her physical and mental health a boost whenever she feels under pressure.

Speaking to Closer magazine, Anita said: "For a real burst of energy, I dance!

"It's pure joy and connection with my body. I close the door, turn the music up, and find that relaxes the nervous system and shakes off stress."

The Countryfile presenter is also a huge advocate of going outdoors to improve her wellness.

Anita said: "Nature is so important, and I've always been a huge advocate of getting outdoors and into our green spaces – it's vital. We, as humans, are nature and part of the ecosystem.

"It's not natural for us to live in places full of concrete where we can't see the horizon. We're designed to be in nature.

"If you can't get to the countryside, go to a local park, take your shoes and socks off and feel the grass under your feet, and just have a minute under a tree. It really does calm your nervous system and drowns out negative noise."

She continued: "I said in my memoir, The Right Sort of Girl, that the Yorkshire Moors, where I grew up, is therapy on tap. It truly feels like an escape.

"Although I live in London, I'm lucky that there are parks and marshes everywhere. Embrace the outdoors however you need it. If I'm mulling over a decision and need clarity, I go for a run, and that's my thinking space."

Rani has advised women in midlife not to fret about the ageing process and to embrace their friendship group.

She said: "My biggest advice for women in their midlife stage where perhaps they're going through perimenopause, is to find your community, your go-to group of women.

"The older you get, the more you need your girls to laugh and cry together, and this sense of support is hugely important."

Anita added: "Despite the anti-ageing rhetoric, nobody should be stressing about ageing.

"Firstly, it's a natural process, secondly, it's a privilege, and thirdly we are magnificent and we only get better!

"Do not let the demons get into your head and tell you otherwise. I completely vouch for that myself; my life is 100 per cent getting better and that's because I care less about what people think.

"As long as you feel good, that's all that matters."
