Donald Glover will star in, direct and co-write a live-action PUBG series for Netflix alongside his brother Stephen Glover, with the hit video game adaptation currently in development.
Donald Glover is set to star in and direct a new Netflix series based on the hit video game PUBG.
The 43-year-old actor will also write and executive produce the live-action adaptation alongside his 38-year-old brother Stephen Glover.
The project is in development as a live-action series adaptation at Netflix, with KRAFTON's LV3H involved in development and production.
A release date and further casting details have yet to be announced.
PUBG, originally released as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds in 2017, challenges players to survive against rival competitors until only one player or team remains.
The battle royale game became an international success and has earned seven Guinness World Records.
However, it remains unclear how Donald and Stephen will translate its survival-based gameplay into a TV storyline.
The siblings previously collaborated on Atlanta, which Donald created, starred in and directed.
Both worked as writers and executive producers on the FX series, which earned Donald two Emmy Awards for acting and directing.
The star has since appeared in and co-created Amazon's Mr and Mrs Smith, on which he remains an executive producer.
Donald originally signed an exclusive television deal with Amazon MGM Studios in 2021, but the agreement has since become a first-look arrangement, allowing him to work with other companies.
His involvement in PUBG marks another major television project for the actor, who also performs music under the name Childish Gambino.
KRAFTON is closely involved in bringing the gaming franchise to the screen through its entertainment division LV3H.
Michael Schaefer will executive produce for NEON TV, alongside Fam Udeorji for Gilga and KRAFTON's Taeseok Jang and Sujin Lee.
The gaming company has been exploring opportunities to expand PUBG into film and television for several years.
An animated adaptation involving Castlevania executive producer Adi Shankar was previously announced for Netflix, although its current status remains unclear.
The live-action project also adds to Netflix's growing collection of video game adaptations.
The streaming giant is developing an Assassin's Creed television series and a Gears of War film, alongside animated projects based on Minecraft, Magic: The Gathering and Clash of Clans.
An Overcooked competition series is also in development, as Netflix continues to explore new ways of bringing popular gaming franchises to TV audiences.
