Princess of Wales' gown gets caught under chair at royal banquet

Catherine, Princess of Wales, appeared unaware that part of her evening gown was pinned beneath a chair leg as King Charles addressed guests at Windsor Castle.
The 44-year-old royal was seated beside Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman during Tuesday's (20.10.26) state banquet and was later seen standing without any apparent difficulty.
The problem was noticed by viewers watching a livestream of the dinner, held in St George's Hall to mark the first day of the Sultan's state visit.
Catherine had chosen a pale yellow Elie Saab gown with a pleated skirt, braided neckline and flowing cape.
There were 160 guests at the dinner, with a long table stretching the length of the historic hall.
According to HELLO! magazine, the princess got to her feet later in the evening without her dress causing any problems.
She completed her outfit with Queen Mary's Lover's Knot Tiara, a diamond-and-pearl headpiece closely associated with Prince William's late mother, Princess Diana.
Her jewellery also included earrings and a bracelet once worn by Queen Elizabeth II, while King Charles' Royal Family Order was pinned to the gown.
The Prince of Wales sat across from his wife during the dinner, which was hosted by the King and Queen Camilla.
The couple exchanged a smile when Charles mentioned William's work with the Sultan's son, Crown Prince Sayyid Theyazin, in his speech.
The monarch said: "There can be few happier symbols of success than a living relationship being passed from one generation to the next."
Charles was referring to the two princes becoming joint patrons of the Jewel of Arabia expedition, part of the growing relationship between Britain and Oman.
The visit was the first by an Omani ruler to Britain in 44 years, with formal engagements planned over three days.
Earlier on Tuesday, Catherine wore a dark green Alexander McQueen coat for the Sultan's official welcome before changing for the evening.
Before the dinner, Catherine and William also posed for a black-and-white portrait taken by British photographer Greg Williams.
It was not her first narrow escape with a long dress at a public event.
At the premiere of Tom Cruise's film Digger in September, a woman accidentally stepped on the train of Catherine's gown as they came off an escalator.
The princess caught herself and laughed off the moment.
