Louis Walsh believes he is 'too old' to judge on The X Factor reboot
Louis Walsh, 74, doesn't expect to be on the judging panel for the proposed X Factor revival as he believes he is "too old".
Louis Walsh thinks he is "too old" to appear on The X Factor revival.
The 74-year-old music manager enjoyed two stints on the judging panel on the ITV music competition but isn't expecting to be asked back by Simon Cowell for the proposed reboot of the talent show.
Louis told heat magazine: "I won't be doing it as I am probably too old.
"The money is good, they pay well. I don't think Simon will ask me."
Louis, who has managed acts such as Boyzone and Westlife during his career, feels that Simon should take a "behind the scenes" role in the revival but thinks Sharon Osbourne and Nicole Scherzinger should return as judges.
He said of Cowell: "I think he's kind of done. He should be behind the scenes.
"Sharon and Nicole would be good. Nicole works hard and wants to win."
Walsh was part of The X Factor's original judging panel alongside Simon and Sharon when the show launched in 2004 but claims that he "never wanted" to be on TV.
He recalled: "I never wanted to be on TV, but I got to know Simon. I was so nervous being on that show as Simon is a big personality and so is Sharon.
"I remember once I had to judge Kelly Osbourne on Radio 1 when she sang Papa Don't Preach and I said, it was absolute s**** and Sharon was not happy – she put me in my place!"
Louis added: "In terms of The X Factor, I worked really hard.
"Nothing was staged. We tried filming in arenas, but the small rooms were the best as there was nowhere to hide."
Meanwhile, Louis and Sharon took part in ITV's Celebrity Big Brother in 2024 but the music mogul didn't enjoy his time in the house.
He said: "I thought it was going to be fun, but it wasn't. I had anxiety problems and I had to get the medics. My doctor thinks I had a minor heart attack in there.
"I did it for the money, but I shouldn't have. Sharon was not in a good place, either. We were television hookers."
