Alastair Campbell "hated" his time on Celebrity Gogglebox, according to his daughter Grace Campbell.

The former Number 10 chief press secretary and the comedienne appeared on the star-studded version of the Channel 4 reality show in 2023, where they reacted to some popular TV shows and films.

While Grace, 32, enjoyed the experience, Alastair, 69, was less than enthusiastic, with the filming process testing his patience.

She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "My dad hated it from start to finish. He did not enjoy it.

"It wasn't that pleasurable because he was in quite a bad mood. My dad's quite impatient; he doesn't understand that cameras take a while to set up and all of that stuff.

"So I enjoyed it, I was very happy that we were doing it, but he was a bit like, 'What is this?' He'd never watched the show before."

But Alastair, who served as the official spokesperson for the former Prime Minister Tony Blair, was left even more frustrated when he and Grace watched the show back.

The pair discovered they were "hardly" in the final edit, despite spending hours filming their reactions for the programme.

Referring to Celebrity Gogglebox's producers, Grace said: "We watched it, and we were hardly in the edit. We were like, 'Did they miss us?"

The experience ranks "relatively high" in Grace's career, although she admitted she had "forgotten" that she and Alastair had even appeared on the show.

Reflecting on the filming process, the actress enjoyed watching her dad become "dysregulated and amusing", while also remembering some backlash from pals.

Grace shared: "I wore odd socks which, like, none of my friends have forgiven me for. They were like, 'Your feet were on TV, and you're wearing odd socks.'"

But Grace hinted that she and Alastair may not be the ideal double-act for another reality show because of their contrasting personalities.

The entertainer said: "But I don't think he and I are a natural double-act in the way that some people and their parents are because I think I'm quite chilled, and he likes things to be done quite quickly."
