This Morning's Dr Philippa Kaye was left with "tearful relief" rather than the overwhelming joy she expected after her latest cancer scans came back clear.

The General Practitioner (GP), who works in women's, children's, and sexual health, was diagnosed with stage two bowel cancer in 2019 at the age of 39 and underwent six months of chemotherapy followed by 12-hour surgery to remove the remaining cancerous lesion.

Philippa announced she was cancer-free the following year, but still needs yearly monitoring.

In March 2026, she underwent a "successful" hysterectomy due to a "cancer risk", and five months later, Philippa admitted she was "struggling" with the lasting changes to her body after cancer treatment, including to her hair, skin and body.

Now, the author has opened up about the complicated emotions she endured after her latest clear results.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday (06.10.26), Philippa shared a selfie and wrote over it: "Before hearing the results of my scans and scope.

"After hearing the results of my scans and scope. Which were all clear, thankfully. I always thought I would be filled with joy and happiness to get clear results.

"But the truth is, as always, more complicated.

"My main feeling is relief, huge, knock your knees out from under you, hands shaking, tearful relief. With gratitude, guilt, sadness and so much more.

"Cancer isn’t always over when treatment finishes.

"Feelings are complicated, and you get to feel all of them!"

She captioned the upload: "Pictures look the same don't they? The scanxiety doesn't just vanish the moment you hear your results.

"Whatever your feelings they are valid!"

Fans rushed to the post's comments section and rallied around Philippa, as one penned: "I’m so pleased the scans are clear and I can totally understand why you are not smiling.

"Love and hugs (sic)."

A second supporter typed: "Glad to hear your scans are clear. No one prepares you for the huge mix of emotions though. BIG hugs (sic)."

And a third follower wrote: "You are so incredibly brave, beautiful inside and out and so inspirational to everyone navigating their journey (sic)."

In August, Philippa opened up about how "hard" it had been to see the lasting effects cancer has had on her body, sharing multiple selfies.

Taking to Instagram, she said: "I am struggling... with the changes to my body from cancer.

"This isn't the scars. Those are the tattoos of my battles. They tell the story of how resilient my body can be.

"It is the other changes. From the premature menopause from treatment and now my ovaries have been surgically removed. Despite being on HRT there are changes...

"My hair is thinner. My skin changed with more wrinkles and dark marks. My body is softer despite exercise. I see the changes everywhere."

But Philippa is "grateful to be here".

She added: "I truly am. My body doesn't work as before and now it doesn't seem to look as before.

"I know it is vain, but sometimes I want to look in the mirror and see the person I was before.

"Sometimes."

She captioned the post: "I am very aware this is a superficial post. I am also incredibly grateful for all my tremendous and how my body works for me. But sometimes it is hard not to look down and notice all the changes I see.”

In 2019, Philippa was diagnosed with stage two bowel cancer, before revealing the following year that she had been given the all-clear.

Appearing on ITV's This Morning in October 2020, she said: "For the first time in nearly 18 months I am able to say that I am cancer free, that is huge, and I am hugely excited to be out of my day pyjamas to speak to you!"
