Richard Arnold, Good Morning Britain's long-time Entertainment Editor, is married.
Good Morning Britain star Richard Arnold has married his long-time partner.
The 56-year-old TV presenter - who is best known as the Entertainment Editor for ITV's breakfast show Good Morning Britain - has confirmed that he married Stuart, his partner of over 23 years, in London over the weekend.
Richard - who first announced the news via his Instagram account - clarified: "Apologies if there was any confusion with the emoji on my Instagram, but this is why middle-aged men should have to put their phones down..."
Kate Garraway, the Good Morning Britain co-host, then explained that the emoji looked like an engagement ring, rather than confirmation of their marriage.
Richard replied: "Ah, right. OK. It's the full thing ... that's myself and my other-half, Stuart, now my husband. Yes, indeed."
The TV star acknowledged that it was weird referring to Stuart as his husband, having been together for so many years before tying the knot.
He said: "It is actually [weird saying it] out loud ... or certainly sober anyway. That was Hackney Town Hall."
Richard revealed that he was joined on his wedding day by his sister-in-law, who flew in from Melbourne, and by his "besties".
Confusion about Richard's marital status emerged over the weekend, when he shared a snap of his beloved pet pooch Clementine, wearing a white bow tie emblazoned with the words "I do too".
Richard captioned the post, "The splice of life" and added a ring emoji.
He was subsequently inundated with congratulatory messages from his showbiz pals, most of whom thought he was announcing his engagement.
Susanna Reid, the co-host of Good Morning Britain, replied: "THE BIGGEST BESTEST NEWS – massive congratulations and tons of love. (sic)"
Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley wrote: "Congratulations loves (sic)"
EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison - who played Heather Trott in the BBC soap - wrote: "Ahh amazing darling (sic)"
Meanwhile, Charlotte Hawkins of Good Morning Britain said: "Fabulous news!! Big congratulations, huge love to you both (sic)"
Ruth Langsford added: "How wonderful! Congratulations and wishing you all the happiness in the world [heart emojis] The pink sporran is on point! (sic)"
