Coronation Street alum Sue Cleaver sparked "panic" on Celebrity MasterChef after she "nearly cut [her] finger off".
Coronation Street's Sue Cleaver "nearly cut [her] finger off" on Celebrity MasterChef, sparking "panic" before the BBC show's medics rushed to treat her.
The actress - who played Eileen Grimshaw from 2000 until 2025 - sliced her right index finger with a sharp Japanese knife bought by her son for the programme while she chopped up a salad, but medics quickly treated her, and she was able to continue.
Per The Sun, just 30 minutes into a task, Sue, 62, said: "Oh, plaster already. I’ve cut myself. It didn’t take long. I nearly cut my finger off, and it’s only day one.
"I’m panicking a bit."
Celebrity MasterChef judge-and-Michelin-starred chef Giorgio Locatelli, 63, told the entertainer: "That’s a Japanese knife. It’s a very sharp one."
Fellow judge, 52-year-old food critic Grace Dent, meanwhile, was thrilled to be in the same room as Sue.
She said: "I’m a massive Corrie fan. This is like meeting The Queen!"
Sue goes head-to-head with The Saturdays singer Una Healy, 44, I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! 2024 campmate Melvin Odoom, 46, former Strictly Come Dancing 2018 semi-finalist Lauren Steadman, 33, and YouTube comedian Max Fosh, 31, in the final week of heats on September 1.
Celebrity MasterChef has entered a new era after former hosts Gregg Wallace and John Torode, both 61, were sacked in July 2025.
John was given the boot after an allegation of him using "an extremely offensive racist term" - which he denies and has "no recollection" of making - was upheld in the Lewis Silkin report into Gregg's alleged inappropriate behaviour on the show.
Gregg was dismissed following an investigation into 83 historical allegations of workplace misconduct, 45 of which were upheld.
Most dated between 2005 and 2018, including one of "unwelcome physical contact".
It found the majority related to "inappropriate sexual language and humour", alongside a smaller number involving other inappropriate language and being in a state of undress.
Gregg issued an apology, saying he was "deeply sorry for any distress caused" and that he "never set out to harm or humiliate".
In June 2025, Giorgio admitted he was a "bad cop" judge on the new series of Celebrity MasterChef.
Appearing on Lennie and Jessie Ware's Table Manners podcast, the restaurateur said: "I think I was a bad cop. I’m strict. Strict about cleanliness and organisation. Those little skills that you teach them slowly.
"We’re working with celebrities, which is different from working with people who wanted to be a chef, but still, you can really see them growing in what they do, and so this is the thing that interests me more on the whole experience."
One celebrity in particular stood out with their dishes.
Giorgio said: "There was somebody who really surprised me a few times in the positive. It was good fun to do, it was really good fun to be with them.
"Everyone has already proven something in their lives, and they have already achieved something. That’s why they’re there, because they are celebrities in different fields.
"The people who worked in entertainment found it so difficult to cook to the time. The sportspeople always hit the time. Their life is run by time. While the other people are all about creativity."
