Joe Pasquale's home haunted by World War Two German fighter pilot
Joe Pasquale was not told about a World War Two German fighter pilot haunting his cottage until after the sale in 2022.
Joe Pasquale's flint cottage is haunted by a World War Two German fighter pilot.
The 64-year-old comedian bought the four-bedroom property in Thetford, Norfolk, in 2022, but the previous owner kept quiet about the ghost, who is thought to have "crashed nearby", until after he became the homeowner.
Joe told The Sunday Times: "Some time after moving in, I was talking to the lady who sold me the cottage, and mentioned I was going to a psychic evening at the local pub.
"She asked me to say hello to the cottage’s ghost if he turned up, which was news to me as she’d told me it wasn’t haunted. Apparently she wasn’t going to admit that to a prospective buyer.
"As for the ghost, he was a Second World War German fighter pilot who’d crashed nearby and used to sit in her bedroom and talk to her - in German, I suppose."
The I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! 2004 winner has not seen the spirit, but his tour manager has.
Joe added: "After staying in that room one night, he told me he couldn’t sleep because someone was sitting by his bed all night looking at him, and I’d not even mentioned the ghost.
"Also, I have a little motion-sensitive ninja fart toy by the old staircase that has been known to pipe up when no one is there."
The New Faces runner-up hails his cottage, built in 1550, as a "very inspirational" place.
Asked if the property needed renovating after he bought it, Joe replied: "No, and I wouldn’t want to do anything anyway. I write horror books. I have three volumes of short stories out and a novel on the way and I find the place very inspirational."
The Price is Right host adores living in Norfolk, which he used to visit as a child.
Joe explained: "During the war my dad was evacuated to a village called Beccles in Suffolk, which isn’t far from here. Years later he used to bring us up the east coast from Essex to come here for the summer holidays.
"After Covid, I found people were ruder and less tolerant, so I moved here from the south. In Norfolk it’s like time has stood still, and Showaddywaddy is still at No 1."
