Maya Jama 'to return for another season of Netflix show'
Maya Jama is being eyed for another season of The Gentlemen.
Netflix want Maya Jama to return for another season of The Gentlemen.
The 31-year-old TV star appears in the trailer for the latest season of The Gentlemen, the Guy Ritchie drama, and it's now been suggested that the show could prove to be transformative for Maya's career.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "The Gentlemen is set to be a huge stepping stone for Maya, who delivers a rather impressive performance despite not having a major part.
"But that could all be about to change as they eye her up for another series of the show, which is already one of Netflix’s biggest hits of recent years."
The Gentlemen could help Maya to become a star in the US, too.
The insider explained: "The US market laps up shows like The Gentlemen as they’re both sexy and quintessentially British, rather like Maya herself."
Maya previously suggested that she's been forced to overcome the odds in order to achieve success.
The TV star has always been very driven and career-minded - even during her teenage years.
Maya - who was born and raised in Bristol, south-west England - told the Guardian newspaper: "When I was a teenager, I was so tunnel-vision focused.
"My upbringing was not very … I think, statistically, the things that happened to me, or the situation I was born into, I shouldn’t have been where I am now. But I think it made me more determined to prove everybody else wrong."
Maya - who has previously dated the likes of Stormzy, Ben Simmons and Ruben Dias - also insisted that she's earned every bit of her success.
The Love Island presenter believes some people are quick to downplay her success or what she's achieved in her career because of her fame and good looks - but Maya feels proud of what she's accomplished.
She said: "I’ve felt like maybe some people didn’t take me seriously, or people downplay my success because of relationships or because of how I look - but I know how much I’ve worked."
