Lorraine Kelly reveals tough personal challenge ahead of daughter's wedding
Lorraine Kelly's daughter Rosie Smith is getting hitched to Steve White on Saturday (25.07.26), and the TV host has given herself a personal challenge ahead of the couple's big day.
Lorraine Kelly's health kick to "feel more confident" for her daughter's wedding has proved difficult.
The TV presenter has not had a drink since April and has joined her husband, Steve Smith, in giving up their evening chocolates with a cup of tea as she tries to shed weight ahead of Rosie Smith, 32, and Steve White's nuptials on Saturday (25.07.26).
Although Lorraine, 66, is pleased she can fit into size 12 outfits and even some size 10s, the star says losing body fat is tougher than it used to be because she is post-menopausal.
Lorraine told the new issue of Bella magazine: "I've been trying really hard. But it's difficult; in years gone by when I tried to lose weight, it would be relatively straightforward.
"When you are post-menopausal trying to get rid of tummy fat, it's almost impossible.
"I've cut out booze - I haven't had a drink since April, and I'm OK with it - and I have stopped our famous 'chocolate plate' at night, where Steve [Smith] and I would have a cup of tea with chocolates.
"I don't really weigh myself, but what I'm finding is I'm getting into size 12s that fit me, and I'm even getting into some of my size 10s.
"I do feel better. I just wanted to feel more confident for the wedding."
Lorraine says she will struggle to hold back tears when Rosie gets hitched on July 25.
She said: "I'll be crying the whole day; happy crying! It's on July 25, which is my mum and dad's wedding anniversary, so it's actually very poignant.
"It'll be lovely; mum's really looking forward to it."
Steve and Rosie's big day will honour the latter's Scottish roots.
Lorraine added: "There'll be Highland dancing and country dancing and a disco. So that is something huge to look forward to."
The journalist - whose dad, John, died suddenly after he slipped on icy ground near his and wife Anne's home in East Kilbride, Scotland, in January aged 84 - has one piece of advice for Rosie on her wedding day.
Lorraine shared: "Rosie is pretty well organised, but the one thing I said to her was - learning from my own wedding - to stop now and again for a wee minute and just take it all in because it goes by in a flash!
"And to take lots and lots of pictures of all those unguarded moments where people are laughing. That's what you want, because those photographs are going to last forever."
