Romesh Ranganathan reveals 'only' reason he joined Celebrity Traitors
Romesh Ranganathan has insisted "contrary to popular belief" he does "enjoy some TV shows without wanting to be on them".
Romesh Ranganathan only signed up for The Celebrity Traitors because of his youngest son.
The 48-year-old comedian and TV star, who has three sons with his wife Leesa, has opened on his decision to join the beloved BBC show and joked about the idea he says yes to ever television job offer he gets.
He told the BBC: "Well, my youngest son is the reason I did The Celebrity Traitors because I wasn't going to do it - contrary to popular belief, I do enjoy some TV shows without wanting to be on them.
"And then we were watching the last series and my youngest son said to me, it’d be really cool if you went on that.
"And so I only really went on for him."
However, Romesh insisted there is an issue with going on a show because of his children.
He added: "But then the problem is that when you do that for your kid, you're really worried about making a fool of yourself and I can't tell you whether I did or not.
"I told the kids this is the only request you get - I'm not a jukebox."
Romesh, who has appeared on the likes of Last One Laughing UK in recent years as well as hosting The Weakest Link, admitted The Traitors is a firm favourite in his home.
He said: "We’re in a period when things that you sit down and watch together as a family are few and far between.
"As a dad, I really relish when the family get together to watch something, because we're all so fragmented and watch what we watch.
"And that's the reason that The Traitors is such a cherished thing in our house.
"It’s an amazing format and everybody in my family loves watching it, so it's like appointment to view. We also really love The Apprentice."
Claudia Winkleman will be welcoming a new group of famous faces into the castle in a bid to win up to £100,000 for a charity of their choice.
As well as Romesh and his close friend Rob Beckett, the star-studded cast will also include the likes of Bella Ramsey, James Blunt, Jerry Hall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Michael Sheen, Ross Kemp, Sharon Rooney and Richard E. Grant.
The first series of the Celebrity Traitors spinoff aired in October 2025, with Alan Carr surviving as the sole winner for the Traitors.
