Theo James is returning to the criminal underworld of The Gentlemen.

The actor, 41, will reprise his role as Eddie Horniman in the second run of the series alongside Kaya Scodelario as Susie Glass after the show spent 10 weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10 English-language television chart after its debut in March 2024.

Netflix has officially confirmed the second season of Guy Ritchie’s hit action comedy will premiere on 3 September.

The streamer has also released a first-look teaser for the new season, which picks up one year after Eddie and Susie joined forces within Bobby Glass’s criminal empire.

Ray Winstone is returning as Bobby, alongside Joely Richardson and Vinnie Jones, while new cast members include Hugh Bonneville, Benjamin Clementine, Benedetta Porcaroli, Michele Morrone, Sergio Castellitto, Amra Mallassi, Tyler Conti, Chris Eubank Jr and Maya Jama.

The series was created by Guy Ritchie and is based on his 2019 film of the same name.

The official synopsis for the upcoming second series states: “It’s been one year since Eddie and Susie joined forces to work together in Bobby’s criminal empire overseas. As they drive to expand their enterprise, the decisions Bobby is making seem to be increasingly unsound.”

It continues: “Now Eddie and Susie must decide whether to take action or risk losing it all, but unfettered ambition never ends well.”

Guy returns as writer, executive producer and director on the second series, alongside writer Matthew Read. Eran Creevy also directs, while Will Gould, Frith Tiplady, Simon Crawford Collins and Ivan Atkinson serve as executive producers.

Laura Jackson and Max Keene are producers, with Moonage Pictures, part of ITV Studios, and Miramax Television producing the series for Netflix.

Theo has become widely recognised for roles in The White Lotus, The Time Traveler’s Wife, Divergent, The Monkey and The Gentlemen, with his portrayal of Eddie helping establish the television adaptation as one of Netflix’s most-watched dramas.

Kaya is known for starring in Skins, The Maze Runner films and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, while Ray remains one of Britain’s best-known screen actors after films including Sexy Beast, The Departed, Nil by Mouth and Marvel’s Black Widow.

Vinnie first found fame as a footballer before building an acting career through films including Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch and X-Men: The Last Stand.

The new cast also brings together several high-profile names from television, film and sport.

Hugh is best known for portraying Robert Crawley in Downton Abbey, while Maya joins the production after continuing as one of the UK’s highest-profile television presenters through Love Island, Love Island Games and The Masked Singer.

Chris, meanwhile, makes his acting debut after establishing himself as one of Britain’s leading professional boxers.

The Gentlemen began life as Guy’s 2019 crime film before being expanded into a television series with a new story and characters.

The director, whose best-known work includes Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, Sherlock Holmes, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Covenant and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, returns to oversee the next chapter as Eddie and Susie attempt to expand their criminal enterprise while confronting growing threats from within Bobby’s organisation.
