EastEnders star Ronni Ancona breaks down horror movie ending
Ronni Ancona has broken down the end of her Albert Square stint as villain Bea Pollard.
Ronni Ancona has compared her EastEnders ending to Single White Female, Gone Girl and Misery.
The 60-year-old actress joined the BBC soap as Bea Pollard earlier this year, and the villainous character has left chaos and destruction in her wake.
This week, she was seen leaving Albert Square in handcuffs after taking Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) hostage.
Asked if the ending was part of the fun playing the character, Ronnie told the Metro newspaper's 60 Seconds column: "It's Single White Female, Gone Girl, Misery all blended up into one denouement.
"It's quite an ending! It appealed to be greatly."
Ronnie has loved her time on EastEnders, and she took her casting as a "compliment" despite her "deranged" alter ego.
She said: "What was interesting is that they thought it was a perfect part for me because she was a very annoying, deranged, delusional woman.
"'Great!' I thought. It was a compliment."
However, Ronni was keen to bring some depth to the role, rather than paint Bea "as just the villain".
She added: "[That sort of role does appeal]. Bea is very complicated. I didn't want to play her as just the villain.
"She genuinely thinks she's right. What is frightening about people like her is they are completely convinced that they're the hero of their own story."
On Tuesday's (07.07.26) episode, Bea took Honey hostage in a remote cottage in Kent.
Honey escaped with some help from Linda (NAME NAME), Nicola (Laura Doddington) and Suki Panesar-Unwin (Balvinder Sopal.
However, there was another twist to come as Bea tried to kill Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) in front of her.
Honey was able to overpower Bea, holding her off until the police arrived and arrested her.
There is more to come, but Ronni hinted her character has no plans to take "a chance of redemption".
She added: "She’s just going to do the whole thing again. She becomes camper by the moment!"
Last month, a spokesperson for EastEnders had confirmed Ronni would be leaving the soap and teased her character won't go quietly.
They told The Sun newspaper: "As we previously announced, Ronni Ancona joined EastEnders for a short stint, which was then extended, for a very dramatic storyline which will unfold over the next few weeks".
