EastEnders' Natalie Cassidy reveals 'huge' career 'mistake' left her feeling 'very alone'
Former EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy has told how she was left feeling "very alone" after making a "huge mistake" in her career - releasing a fitness DVD.
Natalie Cassidy felt "very alone" after releasing a fitness DVD.
The former EastEnders actress admitted she was a "happy-go-lucky" individual before she dropped 2007 weight-loss DVD Then And Now, which earned her "loads of money" and saw her shed several pounds.
However, Natalie has now branded the DVD a "huge mistake".
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, she said: "Huge mistake, I never thought about my weight before that time.
"I was very happy-go-lucky, didn't get on a scale, didn't do anything. I was offered that job, go and do it, earn loads of money and lose loads of weight.
"I did that job, lost loads of weight and put it all back on again. It was really hard, which is why this campaign, what I'm doing at the moment, is really important to me.
"I felt very alone after the DVD. I felt very alone."
Natalie - who is best known for portraying Sonia Fowler in the BBC One soap - wishes she'd had someone she could talk to during those tough times.
She added: "The job finished, and I was on my own.
"I wish I had someone to talk to, somewhere to go, wherever that would be."
Natalie is now encouraging people to visit the Meet Me in the Middle Maze - a free, immersive experience exploring the realities of living with obesity and weight management.
It takes place on July 8th and 9th at Observation Point on the South Bank in London.
Last year, Natalie told how she no longer feels pressure to obsess over dieting.
Speaking to Radio Times magazine, she said: "I think, ‘If this is the size I’m meant to be, I need to be happy with that’.
"I don’t overeat. I enjoy my food. I like a glass of wine, I like a packet of crisps, but you can’t do it every day. Everything in moderation.
"If I go the other way and want to lose a lot of weight, my days aren’t as good. I could be doing a bit more exercise at the moment, but I can’t be bothered."
