TOWIE's Danielle Armstrong reveals daughter was rushed to hospital for surgery
The Only Way Is Essex star Danielle Armstrong told her Instagram followers that the procedure was to treat her daughter's Glue Ear.
Danielle Armstrong's daughter was recently hospitalised for surgery.
Orla, six, had ear, nose, and throat (ENT) surgery to treat Glue Ear, where fluid fills up in the middle part of the ear canal instead of air.
She was fitted with grommets - tiny tubes inserted into the eardrum to allow air to pass through and fluid to drain - and had adenoids and tonsils removed.
The Only Way Is Essex star Danielle took to her Instagram Stories and posted a shot of herself and the youngster, who had a cannula in her arm, cuddled up on a bed.
It was captioned: "My brave little girl has been through a lot lately... I’ll be sharing Orla’s struggle for years of ‘Glue Ear’ and how it’s resulted into having full ENT surgery this week grommets in / adenoids removed and tonsils out.. (sic)."
Danielle reassured her fans that Orla "is recovering well" and getting "lots of mummy cuddles".
According to the National Health Service (NHS), Glue Ear "can cause temporary hearing loss", but "usually clears up within three months".
Grommets, meanwhile, "should fall out naturally within six to 12 months" as the child's ear gets better.
In May 2020, Danielle and her husband, Tom Edney - who got married at Ashridge House, Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, in August 2022 - welcomed Orla into the world.
The reality star took to Instagram and wrote: "My World Is Complete Orla Mae Edney Born May 26th at 16:30pm, Weighing A Healthy 8Ibs11 #mybabygirl #daughter #myworld (sic)."
Danielle shared a video on her Instagram Stories of herself breastfeeding Orla, and said she felt as though she had been "hit by a bus" following the labour.
She said: "Orla kept us waiting. I'm not even going to talk about the labour, I'll save that for another day. She's here and that's all that matters.
"I am exhausted. I think all women who have children are superheroes. And the midwives.
"I literally feel like I've been hit by a bus.
"I'm so pleased she's here, I feel like the happiest girl in the world."
In July 2023, Danielle and Tom - who met at school aged 11 - welcomed their second daughter, Una Rae, into the world.
Alongside a photo of the couple and their daughter, she wrote on Instagram: "Orla Got Her Wish.... IT'S A GIRL! (sic)"
