The Great British Bake Off's Selasi Gbormittah has become a first-time dad.

The 40-year-old TV personality - a semi-finalist on the competition in 2016, who went on to win the New Year's Day special 10 years later - sweetly described his and girlfriend's newborn as "the perfect sous chef".

On Father's Day (21.06.26), Selasi took to Instagram and posted a series of shots showing himself in medical scrubs holding his bundle of joy, carrying the baby in a car seat out of hospital, and a throwback picture with his dad.

He captioned the adorable upload: "My turn! New to this fatherhood thing loving it. The perfect sous chef, untrained, and currently contributes nothing but sweet bubbly noises - the adventures have already begun. All feels very special.

"Happy Father’s Day to all dads and father figures celebrating today (sic)."

The child's identity was not revealed.

Selasi's followers showered him and his girlfriend in the post's comments section.

Nadiya Hussain, 41, who won The Great British Bake Off in 2015, penned: "Congratulations big guy!"

I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! 2020 champion Giovanna Fletcher, 41, typed: "Whooooooop!!! Huge congratulations! Xxx (sic)"

Juliet Sear, 52, This Morning's resident baker, wrote: "Congratulations so lovely Xxx (sic)."

One fan reacted: "Huge Congratulations mate. I am sure you'll be a sensational dad!!! (sic)"

A second supporter commented: "Ahhhhh Congratulations Selasi! This is lovely news! (sic)"

And a third follower said: "Aw how wonderful. Congratulations to you + your partner (sic)."

Selasi reached the semi-final of The Great British Bake Off in 2016 - the show's final year on the BBC before it moved to Channel 4.

Viewers fell in love with the star because of his laid-back personality and stunning bakes, and Selasi did not expect the positive response.

In 2022, he told The Sun: "I genuinely did not expect any of it at all. I mean, there are good sides and bad sides, too.

"So for me, I was quite lucky, I’ve been very lucky. I did not get a single hate message. I did not even get one."

In January, he returned to the programme's famed white tent for the New Year's Day Special and won with his series seven co-star, Val Stones.
