Britain's Got Talent child star pregnant
A Britain's Got Talent child star is set to become a mum.
Britain's Got Talent child star Faryl Smith is pregnant.
The 30-year-old singer - who wowed season two judges Simon Cowell, 66, Amanda Holden, 55, and Piers Morgan, 61, with her voice at the age of 12 on the ITV variety show in 2008 - and her partner Sam Robinson announced the news on Facebook.
Faryl and Sam posted a video of them doing a series of poses in a photobooth, including with a baby scan and her blossoming bump on display, with the caption: "We are over the moon to share that we have a baby on the way. See you in October."
Her fans rushed to the post's comments section to congratulate the couple, as one penned: "What wonderful news! Congratulations, being a mummy is the best feeling in the world xxx (sic)."
A second supporter typed: "Ohhh amazing news!! Congratulations (sic)."
And a third follower wrote: "Aww lovely news....congratulations to you both. X (sic)"
Faryl wowed the judges and received a standing ovation from the audience after her performance of Ave Maria on Britain's Got Talent in 2008.
She got to the final but lost out on winning to then-young dancer George Sampson, now 32.
But behind Faryl's voice was heartbreak as her friend Claire Rowland, with whom she was in the Masquerade Choir, died of a Glioblastoma Multiforme tumour - which is malignant and has a life expectancy of a year - at the age of 11 in July 2006.
In 2008, she told The Mirror that she recorded a CD to raise money for the Claire Rowland Fund.
Faryl said: "I decided to raise money for charity after my friend from choir died of a brain tumour.
"My neighbour has a recording studio in his house, so we recorded a CD of about 12 songs I like and sold it locally. I think I raised about £2,000 in the end, but I just wanted to raise as much as possible."
After Britain's Got Talent, Faryl signed to Universal Classics and Jazz, where she was offered a £2.3 million advance before her debut eponymous album was released in March 2009.
The then-young star received two Classical BRIT Awards nominations for her album.
Faryl studied at the Guildhall School of Music.
