Sara Poyzer ‘set to reprise Coronation Street role of Fiona Morley’
The actress is said to be heading back to Weatherfield after a months-long absence, with her controversial character set to reappear in upcoming episodes following a dramatic departure.
Sara Poyzer is reportedly set to reprise her role as Fiona Morley in Coronation Street.
The 54-year-old actress – who plays the unscrupulous car dealer Fiona on the cobbles – was last seen on screen in September after becoming embroiled in a criminal operation involving stolen vehicles.
The Sun is now reporting ITV viewers will not have to wait long for her return, however, as Sara is said to have signed a new deal to return to the long-running soap and has already filmed scenes in Manchester.
It reported: “(Sara) has signed a new deal to reprise her role as the villainous character and she’s already filmed scenes on the show’s set in Manchester earlier this year.”
Her apparent comeback is expected to air later this month.
The reported return comes as Coronation Street continues to dominate headlines amid ongoing cast changes and major storylines, while Sara remains well known beyond the ITV drama for her extensive work across British television, theatre and radio, including in The Archers, Mamma Mia!, EastEnders, Casualty, Doctors and Crossroads.
Fiona first arrived in Weatherfield in May last year as a former romantic partner of Ronnie Bailey, played by Vinta Morgan.
As her storyline developed, Fiona became involved in a corrupt vehicle operation linked to Carl Webster, played by Jonathan Howard, drawing several established Corrie residents into her schemes.
Her final appearance saw the character steal a vehicle from Kevin Webster’s garage before disappearing from the street.
Before joining Coronation Street, Sara had built a lengthy career across British television and stage productions.
Soap audiences had already seen her in two separate appearances on EastEnders, alongside roles in Casualty, Doctors and Crossroads.
Away from television, Sara has spent the past decade portraying Donna Sheridan in the West End production of Mamma Mia!, one of the most successful stage musicals in Britain.
She has also become a familiar voice to radio audiences through her role as Leonie Schnell in BBC Radio 4’s long-running drama The Archers.
Sara made headlines beyond her acting work in 2024 after becoming involved in a widely reported debate surrounding the use of artificial intelligence in broadcasting.
The actress had been booked by the BBC to provide a voice performance in a documentary concerning a terminally ill individual who had lost the ability to speak.
The broadcaster later opted to use an AI-generated voice instead.
Its decision prompted discussion across the entertainment industry about the increasing use of artificial intelligence in creative roles and the potential impact on performers.
The BBC later clarified the decision had been reached after consultation with the family involved and because of what it described as the highly sensitive nature of the programme.
Sara has previously spoken publicly about concerns regarding the growing role of AI technology within the acting profession, becoming one of several performers to highlight the issue as debate on it continues across the television, film and radio industries.
