Josh Widdicombe breaks silence on Strictly Come Dancing hosting rumours
Josh Widdicombe has addressed the reports that he and Emma Willis are co-hosting Strictly Come Dancing.
Josh Widdicombe is coy over whether he is co-hosting Strictly Come Dancing with Emma Willis.
The comic, 43, kept tight-lipped on Tuesday's (19.05.26) episode of ITV's Good Morning Britain, when anchors Susanna Reid and Ed Balls quizzed him about the reports he and Emma have landed the BBC Latin and Ballroom dance show's presenters' gig.
It is believed that Josh and Emma, 50, are the BBC's top picks to replace Tess Daly, 57, and Claudia Winkleman, 54, who quit Strictly Come Dancing at the end of the 2025 series in December.
Josh told Susanna, 55, and 59-year-old Ed: "Do not believe what you read in the papers. You're both public figures, you're aware of this but, you know, we're all thinking, who would we want, obviously?"
Susanna asked Josh to either confirm or deny the reports, as she said: "I'm not sure we're getting to the answer to the question here. Josh Widdicome, back to the point. Are you the next presenter of Strictly Come Dancing?"
Avoiding a yes or no reply, once again, he replied: "It's lovely to be linked with the role. I think it's an impressive thing to have on your CV being linked to Strictly, and I think I do a lovely job."
Josh then joked to Susanna and Ed: "If I was casting it, I'd look for a couple that have got Strictly heritage, two stars of the ballroom. Chemistry, chemistry, chemistry, weeks off, experience in live TV.
"There's only one couple I can think of, and they're sitting right in front of me. Well, they're [Susanna and Ed] the perfect duo to host Strictly."
Susanna jumped in and pressed Josh again: "Getting back to the question. Are you, third time asking? Are you the next presenter of Strictly Come Dancing?"
And he admitted: "It would be lovely to be the next presenter of Strictly Come Dancing."
Josh continued: "It would be absolutely lovely. Look, I'm glad to be linked with that. I'm glad you're having fun with it."
Susanna asked: "Would you love to do it?”
And Josh reconfirmed: "I would love to do it, of course. I would love to do it, but I think we'd all love to do it."
Also on Thursday's episode of Good Morning Britain, Strictly Come Dancing's Head Judge Shirley Ballas said she knows who has replaced Tess and Claudia as hosts.
Ed asked if she knew the next dynamic duo, and Shirley, 65, replied: "Well, kind of, yes, maybe."
And the Queen of Latin teased the 2026 season - which starts in September - will be "the series of all series".
Shirley added: "There are so many little tweaks and turns, and things going on. I want people to be hyped and excited about what's going on with Strictly Come Dancing.
"You are not going to be disappointed, that's for sure."
Elsewhere, there has been talk that Strictly Come Dancing pro Johannes Radebe could be made a "roving reporter" after he impressed the show's bosses during the recent presenter auditions.
