Andrea McLean lost her life savings in a business deal.

The 56-year-old TV star and her husband Nick Feeney invested all of their cash in a lifestyle business in 2020 - but they ended up losing it all when the company crashed.

The former Loose Women star told the Daily Mail newspaper that her bank balance “was less than £2.60. It was minus. And I can’t remember an exact moment, because it just went on and on and on.”

Andrea - who starred on Loose Women between 2007 and 2020 - sold all her clothes, furniture and even her engagement ring in a desperate bid to find money.

The TV star even applied for a job at Starbucks at one point in time.

She said: "I was prepared to go through the whole, 'Are you that lady from the telly? Oh how the mighty have fallen!' thing."

Andrea recently enjoyed a small change in fortunes, when she found £60 in an old wallet and she treated her family to a Chinese meal.

She shared: "We hadn’t done that for a good two years. And gosh, to tell the kids ‘We’re getting a Chinese’. It felt like the most amazing thing."

Meanwhile, Andrea previously revealed that she turned to marriage counselling to help her husband deal with her breakdown.

The TV presenter - who has been married to Nick since 2017 - explained to the Daily Express newspaper: "We did it because I was going through a tough time, obviously I've now said on air I was having a breakdown.

"It was so he could know how to help me, obviously I didn't want to talk about that at the time.

"What I was saying was, in my experience, marriage counselling is very helpful."

Andrea insisted that, contrary to speculation, they "weren't having difficulties at all".

She added: "He was being supportive of me."

Andrea hates that there is still a stigma attached to marriage counselling.

In fact, the TV star thinks that all couples should be open to the idea.

She said: "In my opinion everyone should go to marriage counselling, even if your relationship is super healthy because you learn ways to communicate better."
