Mel Giedroyc says her new game show The Way Out is "properly stupid".

The upcoming Channel 4 programme, which is fronted by the former Great British Bake Off host, features two teams of comedians led by Ed Gamble and Nish Kumar as they get dropped into bespoke, themed escape rooms and tasked with finding a way out.

She told The Sun newspaper's TV Mag: "It’s properly stupid. The first one is an actual boat, it moves on ‘almost’ real sea. There’s a lot of fog and seagulls.

“The second room is all about an art heist. We’re in the Louvre gallery, where the teams have to steal the Mona Lisa.

“The third is all about making the comedians teeny, like in film Honey I Shrunk The Kids.”

For the first episode on May 12, Ed will team up with Chloe Petts and Lou Sanders, while Nish is partnering with Amy Annette and David O'Doherty.

Throughout the challenges, Mel - who recently appeared on Sky's Last One Laughing - is in a control room giving out orders to the contestants.

She quipped: "I felt it gave me some sort of authority I’ve never tasted before.

“And I wore jodhpurs on telly. I think it’s a Jilly Cooper thing. I want to be in Rivals!”

During Last One Laughing, which has been renewed by a third series, Mel found herself trying not to laugh as she spent six hours in a house with fellow comedians.

Anyone who failed to hold in their chuckles got evicted, with David Mitchell eventually emerging victorious.

Before the series aired, Mel joked about having had a "very cheap jowl lift" because of how hard it was to refrain from cackling.

Revealing her tactic, she told the Radio Times magazine: "I used the power of my gurn. I idolised Les Dawson as a child, and no one has ever gurned like Les.

"It involves a lower jaw often coming up above the upper jaw. I had to employ every muscle and every sinew of my face and body, and use the muscles on the side of my neck.

"I've given myself a very cheap jowl lift. I won't be going to see the Botox lady, unlike Jimmy Carr."
