Line of Duty's Kelly MacDonald signs up for series two of Sky's War
Line of Duty star Kelly MacDonald has been cast for the second series of Sky's War.
Kelly MacDonald has signed up for series two of Sky's War.
The actress is set to swap the BBC's high-stakes police corruption drama Line of Duty for courtroom conflict in the bold legal drama, of which series one launches later this year.
Kelly, Spider-Man: Far From Home star Marisa Tomei, Sherwood alum David Harewood, and Clemency's Richard Schiff will lead an explosive defamation case in War.
The quartet will be joined by Claire Skinner, Omari Douglas, Kadiff Kirwan, Douglas Booth, Charles Edwards, Luca Pasqualino, Rebecca Front, Alexandra Maria Lara, Linus Roache, Violet Braeckman, Sasha Behar, Sid Phoenix, Cornelius Booth, and Megan Channell.
Series two will see top law firms Cathcarts and Taylor + Byrne go head-to-head in taking on a defamation case.
And filming has already got underway on the second instalment of the show, a co-production with HBO.
Series one of War - which airs later this year - stars Dominic West and Sienna Miller as tech entrepreneur Morgan Henderson and film star Carla Duval, a couple going through an acrimonious divorce.
The nine-part series - created by George Kay - also stars The Celebrity Traitors 2025 faithfuls, Celia Imrie and Nick Mohammed, as well as Black Mirror's Phoebe Fox and comedian Miles Jupp.
Kelly played baddie DCI Jo Davidson in season six of Line of Duty, and she coped "badly" with the spotlight the show brought.
In February 2024, the star explained to Bustle: It was a very strange time for me because Iād never been so exposed. I had to stop going online.
"Everyone was so invested. The show is owned by the viewers. It was overwhelming."
Fans are excited once again as Line of Duty returns for a seventh series in 2027.
The drama follows a team inside Anti-Corruption Unit 12 (AC-12) - led by Hastings - as they investigate police corruption.
In series seven, AC-12 has been disbanded and rebranded the Inspectorate of Police Standards.
Anticorruption work has never been more difficult, and in this challenging climate, key players DS Steve Arnott (Martin Compston), DI Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure), and Supt Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) are assigned their most sensitive case so far.
Line of Duty series seven will air next year, with an exact broadcast date yet to be confirmed.
