Security has reportedly been stepped up on the set of The Celebrity Traitors to protect the A-list cast.

Filming on the new series of the BBC show is getting underway at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands and stars including Michael Sheen, singer James Blunt and Love Island host Maya Jama have been jetting in to take part - now The Sun newspaper reports producers are doing their best to make sure all the big names are happy.

A source told the publication: "Although most of the stars are British, so many of them are used to working in America that their teams are used to the Hollywood treatment.

"They don’t want to find themselves thrust into the spotlight, or put in any kind of danger, so demand substantial security the minute they arrive.

"But it’s also more than a little bizarre because Inverness [airport] is pretty quiet and remote - it’s not like arriving at JFK or LAX Airport."

The publication reports more of the cast flew to Scotland ahead of filming instead of taking the train and they will be given their own chauffeur-driven cars instead of being ferried around in a mini-bus like last year's cast of The Celebrity Traitors.

The insider added: "The production team have little choice, however, than to cater for their demands because they accept the number of A-listers taking part in this year’s show makes it exceptional."

The cast for the new series - hosted by Claudia Winkleman - has been announced by the BBC and also includes The Last Of Us star Bella Ramsey, actor-turned-documentary maker Ross Kemp, Coronation Street star Julie Hesmondhalgh, former Little Mix singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock, actor Richard E. Grant and veteran model Jerry Hall.

The BBC previously confirmed The Celebrity Traitors final - which aired in November - attracted an audience of 15 million people.

The show proved to be a huge hit with TV viewers becoming the biggest title of 2025 across the UK.

Kalpna Patel-Knight, the head of entertainment at the BBC, said at the time: "[Production company] Studio Lambert have done an outstanding job as The Celebrity Traitors has well and truly captivated the nation, becoming a bona fide highlight of the year bringing record numbers of people together to enjoy every twist and turn.

"In 2026 the doors of the castle will be opened again to welcome celebrity players to the game to see who can charm, who can scheme and ultimately who can survive in series two which promises to be just as unmissable as the first. Plus with Uncloaked returning and today’s news of the positive contribution The Traitors brand has made to Scotland’s economy, there is plenty to celebrate."
