The 49-year-old actor - who played troubled teenager Aidan Brosnan on the BBC soap in 1993 - announced the passing of Sadie in a heartbreaking Instagram post on Sunday (05.04.26) - after grappling with a double tragedy in 2025.

Sean posted a sweet shot of his aunt and captioned it: "It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to one of my favourite people in this world my auntie Sadie Wilson.

"My dad’s older sister who used to let me stay at her house when my family went on holiday and I had to stay behind for filming Grange Hill. She was always so funny cheeky and mischievous. Always made me laugh. Never in a bad mood. A true gift from God.

"To my cousins, Linda and Donna and uncle Sammy. We’ve lost another legend. But my goodness did she make the world a better place.

"Goodbye auntie Lady. Please give Darren a hug for me. (sic)"

Fans rushed to the post's comments section to express their condolences.

One supporter penned: "Oh Sean. I’m so sorry. Sending love, hugs, and prayers to you and your family."

And a third person wrote: "How blessed you were to have such a lovely auntie. So sorry for your loss. xxx (sic)"

On December 11, Sean took to Instagram and announced that his cousin, Jack Ryan, had tragically died.

He shared a photo of Jack and revealed that he had departed on December 7.

Sean captioned the post: "It completely breaks my heart to share this news. But today we say goodbye to my young cousin Jack Ryan. So kind,so talented, so handsome and far far too young.

"Catherine + @shane.ryan7 we love you so much and we’ll all do our best to help you through this incredibly difficult chapter. He was such a credit to your our family.

"Our loss is heaven’s gain. Rest in peace cousin. (sic)"

And 11 months beforehand, the Scott and Bailey alum and his family suffered another heartbreaking blow as his brother Darren died in January.

Sean shared an emotional montage of Darren over the years on Instagram and captioned the upload: "I’ve struggled to find the words or even choose the pictures for this because it means that it’s real but for those who don’t already know our beloved brother Darren Maguire passed away on Saturday, 11th January.

"He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He was a truly remarkable man, friend, son, brother, and father. He was so loved by everyone that knew him. I’m still in so much shock.

"I can barely form a sentence, but I know the world has lost one of its most beloved people and I have lost my best friend.

"We love you Darren and we’ll never stop loving you. Now go make them laugh and dance heaven. (sic)"
