Arthur Darvill would "jump at the chance" to return to Doctor Who.

The 43-year-old actor - who played companion Rory Williams alongside Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor from 2010 to 2012 - has revealed that he and his co-stars Matt and Karen Gillan would all welcome the opportunity to reprise their beloved roles.

Speaking to Radio Times, Arthur said: "If the opportunity came up, yeah, of course, I think we'd all jump at the chance."

The actor - who starred alongside Karen and Matt for three series of the hit BBC sci-fi show - explained that the trio remain close friends and regularly joke about a potential return to Doctor Who.

He said: "We all joke with each other because we're all still good mates, we'll joke like, 'Maybe this year, maybe we'll be back.' I like the idea that when we're really old, we'll go back."

Arthur admitted that when he, Karen and Matt originally left the TV show, they were all adamant that they would never return.

He explained: "When we left, we all were like, 'Nope, never going back. It was too good. We don't want to ruin it.' But now we've gone off and done our own things."

The TV star reflected warmly on his time on the long-running sci-fi show, describing it as "the most fun [he's] had on almost anything."

He added: "We all just bonded so closely and had this mad shared experience that I think will take us through the rest of our lives."

Meanwhile, Arthur previously revealed that he imbued his original Doctor Who audition with a "low-level panic attack the whole time".

Speaking to Radio Times, the actor explained: "My impression of it was that Rory was very much the eyes of the audience, and the person on the outside questioning everything. And I just found that really funny."
