Last One Laughing 'getting TV special and third series'
It has been claimed that Last One Laughing will be getting a TV special and a third series.
Last One Laughing has reportedly bagged a TV special and been renewed for a third series.
On Thursday (19.03.26), Amazon Prime Video started to air the second season of the show - which sees 10 comics battling it out not to giggle as they spend time together in a house, with those failing being evicted.
And now it has been claimed that a special will be broadcast at Halloween, and filming for a third series will begin in the spring for a 2027 release.
A show insider told The Sun newspaper's TVBiz column: "Last One Laughing is unquestionably one of the most talked-about TV shows of the past year, and it’s not a huge surprise that more has now been ordered.
"But no one expected them to reveal there’d be a new season and a special coming out in the same year.
"At the rate at which it’s gaining momentum, the calibre of comedian they’ll attract for series three will be off the scale."
Tara Erer, head of UK and Northern Europe originals at Amazon, is delighted with the success of Last One Laughing.
She said: "We’ve already made this format in over 20 countries. Wherever it goes, it becomes a huge hit.
"With the UK, we knew it would be successful. But the scale at which it grew was a welcome surprise."
Asked if there are plans to make more series, she added: "That’s the goal.
"I think it can go on and on and keep the quality at the level that we started with."
In 2025, Bob Mortimer, 66, won the first series of Last One Laughing.
He told press: "I thought it would be easy not to laugh. [I] spend most of my days not laughing, so I thought it would be easy, but it's so difficult! [It's] just a strange atmosphere, I was really struggling in the beginning."
Asked how he managed not to laugh, he added: "I just walked away. There was a few contestants [where] I just couldn't look at their faces, so I just veered away."
The star is back to defend his crown in the second series of Last One Laughing - hosted by comics Jimmy Carr, 53, and 46-year-old Roisin Conaty.
Bob is up against Mel Giedroyc, 57, David Mitchell, 51, Diane Morgan, 50, Romesh Ranganathan, 47, Amy Gledhill, 38, Maisie Adam, 32, Alan Carr, 49, Gbemisola Ikumelo, 39, and 34-year-old Sam Campbell.
Mel joked about having had a "very cheap jowl lift" because of how hard it was to refrain from cackling.
Revealing her tactic, she recently told Radio Times magazine: "I used the power of my gurn. I idolised Les Dawson as a child, and no one has ever gurned like Les.
"It involves a lower jaw often coming up above the upper jaw. I had to employ every muscle and every sinew of my face and body, and use the muscles on the side of my neck.
"I've given myself a very cheap jowl lift. I won't be going to see the Botox lady, unlike Jimmy Carr."
