Balamory's Julie Wilson Nimmo hobbling on crutches after nasty fall
Balamory star Julie Wilson Nimmo has been left injured after a nasty fall on Thursday (05.03.26).
Julie Wilson Nimmo is hobbling on crutches after she "badly sprained" her knee in a nasty fall.
The Balamory star tumbled near the water after not looking where she was walking amid chatting to pal Amy during a rainy swim trip to Mugdock, Stirlingshire, Scotland, on Thursday (05.03.26).
On Sunday (08.03.26), Julie - who has been married to actor-and-comedian Greg Hemphill, 56, since 1999 - said in a video shared to Instagram: "So, this is my first swim-related injury, which me and Greg were just saying is pretty good, seeing as we've been doing this for years.
"And it was completely my fault on Thursday, I dragged my friend Amy up to Mugdock, and it was raining, and I was really tired, I'd been working that morning, and she [was like], 'Oh, we'll not go,' and I insisted.
"I was tired, and I got there, and it was raining, we went through a field with cows - that was another red flag.
"Anyway, we get to the point, and she's watching what she's doing. I'm chat, chat, chat, and I look over to see the level of the water, and [right leg] went from out of me. I thought there was another rock there.
"And then, sadly, all the weight went onto the [left knee], which we're not sure whether it was dislocated and then went back in.
"But, it's back in now, and it's sprained badly; it has been since Thursday."
Julie - who played nursery teacher Miss Hoolie in Balamory - delayed going to Accident and Emergency (A+E) by a day because she wanted to get her hair done.
The 54-year-old star continued: "So I didn't go up to A+E until Friday, I got my roots done first - priorities - and then I went up."
Whilst praising the medical staff that treated her, Julie - who will "never, ever take my knees for granted again" following the accident - admitted she felt "teary" as they did X-rays on her leg.
The Scot Squad cast member said: "And I just want to say on International Women's Day, the women that I met in that hospital in the minor injuries unit up at the Royal are pals for life now.
"Tracey - big shoutout to you - oh my God, they were so kind to me, and I was a bit tired and teary, and they looked after me, and they had to move my leg around for the X-rays and stuff, and I'm so lucky because this is all it is."
Julie hopes people will learn from her error to avoid a similar injury.
She continued: "But, I just want to say, please watch what you are doing. If you are tired, don't go for your swim. Don't go in the p****** rain in the mud.
"And if you are going, try not to be the chatterbox one and look down at your feet, I'm always really, really, really, like looking at my feet and watching, and I wasn't.
"I'll tell you right now, I was completely losing it out of the water because I couldn't wait to get in it.
"That said, I still enjoyed my dip, and then it probably froze my leg, and we got back, and it wasn't until later on it started to get sore.
"But another good thing I'd love to say is I will never, ever take my knees for granted again. I love you, knees, I've got yoga knees, and I love them so much."
And Julie stressed to fans that she was on the mend.
The Olga Da Polga actress ended the video with: "So, listen, this is all I'm getting. I'm going to be fine. Big up to all them amazing women, I couldn't list the amount of women on a video like this because there's so many women in my life, I love them loads.
"I'll be back to walking before you know it."
