Samuel L. Jackson is being joined by actor Asa Germann in Paramount+ series Frisco King.

The forthcoming spinoff of Taylor Sheridan’s Tulsa King begins production later this month in Fort Worth, Texas, and will star Samuel, 77, as Russell Lee Washington Jr., a character first introduced in the third season of the original show last autumn.

Asa, 28, will play Teddy, described as “a sharp, savvy, entrepreneurial college dropout who gets Lee’s attention”. Paramount+ confirmed the casting as the production prepares to start filming in Texas.

Asa has gained prominence for playing Sam Riordan in the Amazon Prime Video series Gen V, the superhero spinoff of The Boys.

He was also featured in Variety’s 2025 Young Hollywood Impact Report as part of the young cast of the show.

His other screen credits include roles in Scream 7, Gargoyle 2 and the Netflix series Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, as well as a lead role in the independent feature Callback.

Asa is also currently in production on the feature New England Toys, alongside Willa Fitzgerald, Ruby Cruz, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Paul Sparks.

Paramount+ announced last week Taylor Sheridan will write all episodes of Frisco King.

The series had previously been developed under the title NOLA King.

Executive producers include Taylor Sheridan, Tulsa King star and executive producer Sylvester Stallone, and Samuel L Jackson.

Other executive producers on the project are David C Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Christina Alexandra Voros, Michael Friedman, LaTanya Richardson Jackson and Keith Cox.

Matt Thunell, president of Paramount Television Studios, said: “We are honored to have Taylor Sheridan write the first season of Frisco King and bring to life Samuel L. Jackson’s iconic character.”

Matt added: “Having him pen all episodes of the season with his singular voice will be a treat for fans of Tulsa King and audiences around the world.”

Russell Lee Washington Jr., the character played by Samuel, was introduced during the third season of Tulsa King, expanding the narrative world of the franchise.

Frisco King will follow the character as the story moves from Oklahoma to Texas.

Samuel is one of Hollywood’s most prolific actors, known for roles in films including Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained and the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Nick Fury.

With a career spanning decades, he has appeared in more than 150 films and frequently collaborates with director Quentin Tarantino.
