Dame Prue Leith insists there's a market for 'Geriatric Tinder'
Former Great British Bake Off judge Dame Prue Leith says some of the show's older fans have been asking if "Geriatric Tinder" is a real thing.
Dame Prue Leith has called on someone to set up "Geriatric Tinder".
The 86-year-old star has admitted since her husband John joked that they found each other on a dating platform for the elderly, she's had older Great British Bake Off fans wondering if it's a real thing.
She told Radio Oldie: "Of course, Geriatric Tinder doesn’t exist, but the number of women who come up to me and have said, ‘Where do I get this from?'
"Some enterprising person should really set one up.”
The also recalled a racy moment on daytime television when her own love life was the topic of discussion.
She said: "One day I was [guesting] on Loose Women and we were discussing a drug that was legal in America but not in England, a libido-enhancing drug for women.
“They were discussing whether this was a moral thing to have, and they said to me, ‘Would you have some?’
“I said, ‘Well, if it was legal and it wasn’t too expensive, and the doctor recommended it...’
“They went to John in the audience and asked what he thought of me taking it, and he said, ‘Oh God, don’t give her any more, I’d have to call in the reinforcements!' ”
Last month, Prue announced she was leaving Bake Off, having joined the Channel 4 show back in 2017.
She said: "After nine series and judging more than 400 challenges, I have decided to step down as a judge on The Great British Bake Off.
"Bake Off has been a fabulous part of my life for the last nine years, I have genuinely loved it and I’m sure I’ll miss working with my fellow judge Paul [Hollywood], Alison [Hammond] and Noel [Fielding] and the teams at Love Productions and Channel 4.
"But now feels like the right time to step back (I’m 86 for goodness sake!), there’s so much I’d like to do, not least spend summers enjoying my garden."
It's since been reported she has already filmed a travelogue with former Bake Off host Sandi Toksvig in a surprise reunion.
A source told The Sun newspaper's TVBiz column: "Although Sandi left the tent six years ago, they’ve remained close pals and long talked about doing more telly work together.
“Prue’s departure from Bake Off gave her more free time to explore other work she had to keep on the backburner.”
