John Cho has joined the cast of Apple TV’s upcoming drama series The Off Weeks.

The actor, 53, is the latest addition to the show’s already high-profile ensemble, led by Ben Stiller and Jessica Chastain.

Produced for Apple TV, The Off Weeks centres on a fractured family life and a volatile romance.

Ben and Jessica were previously announced as the leads of the series, with John now joining other fellow cast members Arian Moayed, Annaleigh Ashford and Richard Gere.

The drama follows a writing professor navigating divorce, parenthood and a new relationship, with filming and release details yet to be confirmed by Apple TV.

An official logline for the show says: “When divorce throws writing professor Gus Adler’s (Ben Stiller) life into chaos, he struggles to hold things together during ‘on weeks’ when he has custody of his kids.

“But in his ‘off weeks,’ he’s falling dangerously in love with Stella West (Jessica Chastain), a mysterious woman whose arrival puts Gus’ on-week duties and off-weeks ambitions on a fatal collision course.”

John is already familiar to Apple audiences.

He recently appeared in the series Murderbot for the platform and featured in the second season of The Afterparty.

His most recent television work also includes the Korean spy drama Tempest, which aired on Disney+.

And his wider television credits include Poker Face, The Sympathizer, Fox’s The Exorcist and Selfie.

In film, he is known for playing one of the title characters in the Harold Kumar franchise and for portraying Sulu in the rebooted Star Trek films.

He shot to fame largely thanks to his small role in American Pie.

Ben will executive produce The Off Weeks via Red Hour alongside John Lesher.

Jessica is executive producing alongside Kelly Carmichael for Freckle Films.

Alissa Nutting serves as showrunner and executive producer.

Michael Showalter, who directs and developed the project with Semi-Formal Productions, executive produces alongside Jordana Mollick.

Paul Lee and Gabriel Fisher executive produce for wiip.

Peter Principato, Allen Fischer and Brian Steinberg executive produce for Artists First, while Dean Bakopoulos also serves as an executive producer, with wiip acting as the studio.

John is represented by 3 Arts, UTA and Yorn Levine Barnes.
