Lorraine Kelly thanked fans for their condolences as she returned to TV following her father's death.

The 66-year-old presenter returned to her eponymous ITV show on Monday (19.01.26) morning after her absence last week following the tragic passing of her father John and assured viewers that she was doing "ok" as she comes to terms with the loss.

Speaking at the start of the programme, Lorraine said: "I'm ok, and I'll tell you what, everybody sent me cards and you've all been so kind, everybody here of course, because it is like a family, have been amazing."

The Scottish broadcaster continued: "You just have to go through the process, anybody that's been there knows how tough it is. It really does help, you see the kindness in people, and that's just been lovely."

Christine Lampard presented the show in place of Lorraine last week and sent her condolences to the regular host at the start of last Monday's (12.01.26) programme.

The 46-year-old star said: "Lorraine is spending some time with her family in Scotland, but we are all thinking of you Lorraine, and we will see you here very soon."

Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid also sent "enormous amounts of love" to Lorraine as she handed over to Christine for a preview of the daytime programme.

She said: "Christine is here in the studio for Lorraine after 9:30 am, Christine good morning to you, and we want to send our condolences to Lorraine. Tragically, she lost her father in the last couple of days, and we just send enormous amounts of love. I know it came as a shock, and Lorraine, lots and lots of love to you."

Lorraine announced the news of her 84-year-old father's passing on Instagram and admits that his death had come as a "shock", even though he had been in "poor health".

She wrote on the social media platform: "My dad has died. I am mourning the man who bought me a telescope when I was five years old, who watched the moon landings with me and taught me to always be curious and interested in everything."

Lorraine continued: "He was in poor health but it has still been a shock. Any of you who have experienced a similar loss will know how my brother Graham and I are feeling.

"Our priority is taking care of my mum and the family would very much appreciate privacy at this distressing time."
