Sally Carman has likened appearing in Corriedale to starring in a "blockbuster" film.

The 44-year-old star will feature in the historic ITV soap crossover on Monday (05.01.26) as her Coronation Street alter ego Abi Webster and says that the show's dramatic car crash stunt is akin to a scene from a big-budget movie.

Sally told the Manchester Evening News: "I think when you're watching blockbuster films and stuff, you're like, 'Oh, wow, that's so good.' But we got the opportunity to do that! We're literally running down this road, and there are cars on fire, and whatever else is going on.

"So in that respect, yeah, it was brilliant because it was just so exciting and you got to play with all these brilliant actors and everyone just pulled it out of the bag.

"I think that's what surprised me, because, obviously, it was brilliantly written, and you see the scenes, but then when you actually bring it on the floor, you see what people add, and their energy, or what they bring to it, and the talents, and all those things, and you're kind of like, wow, this is pretty cool."

Sally feels that she is part of history thanks to her role in Corriedale, which marks the beginning of ITV's new 'soap power hour' that will feature half-hour episodes of both Emmerdale and Coronation Street every weekday.

The Shameless actress explained: "The unique thing about ourselves is that it's been part of all our lives, whether you watch it or not, everybody knows Emmerdale and Coronation Street.

"They just do, because if it wasn't in your living room, it was in your neighbour's living room, or your grandmother's living room, or whatever.

"So to actually be in a situation where you're filming, where these characters that you have watched yourself, and you get to play and create something so unique and such a special one-off, is a real pinch me moment in time and everybody felt the same."

Sally even joked that she "is over" missing out on a role in Emmerdale after joining forces with cast members of the soap.

She said: "A lot of those characters I've auditioned for and not got, so that was nice... I'm over that, I'm sorry."
