Trigger Point slapped with warning
Episodes of the award-winning ITV crime drama, Trigger Point, now come with alerts on ITVX, warning viewers of its "high tension”, as well as "themes of peril" and "threats".
ITV bosses have slapped episodes of Trigger Point with an alert to viewers.
The broadcaster's streaming platform, ITVX - of which series two of the show was streamed 30 million times on - has warned that the award-winning crime thriller series is "high tension”.
Also, it has informed people that multiple episodes of the drama - which follows Metropolitan Police bomb squad Lana Washington (Vicky McClure) and her team of bomb disposal officers, known as EXPOs, risk their lives to protect London - have "themes of peril" and "threats".
Guidance states: "Graphic scenes of injury and death. Frequent strong language."
The 2022 series one finale - which focuses on a bomb plot - has an alert for “terrorist danger”.
Reacting to the trigger warnings on the episodes, Lord Toby Young, 62, of the Free Speech Union, told The Sun: "Talk about stating the bleedin’ obvious. It’s not called Trigger the Wonder Horse, is it?"
In June, it was confirmed that the successful bomb squad drama - executive produced by Jed Mercurio - has been recommissioned for a fourth series.
And Vicky - who filmed the upcoming season of Trigger Point over the summer - "cannot wait" to see what is in store for her character when the show returns in 2026.
She said: "We’re all buzzing ITV have such faith in this series to commission a fourth before the third has even aired.
"I love working with the team, we have a great time making the show, and I cannot wait to continue Lana’s journey on Trigger Point.”
Earlier this year, Trigger Point - which won the National Television Award for Most Popular New Drama in 2021 - got the royal seal of approval from Queen Camilla.
She visited the set of the show, accompanied by Jed, 59, and Dame Carolyn McCall, 64, the chief executive of ITV, as part of the celebrations for ITV's 70th year.
Queen Camilla, 72, tried being a camera assistant, taking charge of the clapperboard before she watched a scene being shot on location.
Vicky, 42, asked the royal - who was surprised at the 30lb weight of the bomb disposal suit worn by the actress - if she likes Trigger Point.
Queen Camilla replied: "I have watched it. I'm just getting through the first (series), so I've got a bit more. It's really good."
