Sara Davies once puked in a bin before a "big recording at a TV studio" because she was so nervous.

A challenge may not faze the Dragons' Den tycoon due to her successful career, including turning her business, Crafter's Companion, into a global craft supplies company within a space of 15 years.

But behind her bubbly and enthusiastic character on screen, Sara, 41, has a serious battle with intense nerves.

She told the new issue of Closer magazine: "When I'm doing something new, I get super nervous. I'm only human.

"People see the high-energy version of me, but they don't realise that's sometimes masking a nervous me, and I'm definitely an overthinker."

And when her nerves become too much, the Strictly Come Dancing 2021 contestant cannot help but show it.

Sara shared: "Once, I was going for a big recording at a TV studio and vomited in a bin by the underground entrance. I was that nervous!"

On New Year's Day, Sara is fronting ITV's Time Is Money - an exhilarating high-stakes quiz show that tests the knowledge and nerves of contestants, who begin with their prize money and must race against the clock to keep it by getting answers correct.

And Sara tackled her anxiousness about hosting the programme by "faking it until you make it" and running.

She said: "We filmed in Manchester, so I met a running coach at 5.30am every day and ran the 5k from my hotel to the studio.

"Pounding the roads clears out the worry and expends that nervous energy. No matter how anxious I am, I feel great at the end of it.

"On set, people asked why I got up so early, but it gets me into a brilliant headspace."

But ultimately, Sara is thrilled to be presenting the "full-on" programme, which is "unlike anything you’ve seen before".

In a press release, she said: "It’s going to be a rollercoaster of excitement and tension, and I can’t wait to see who’ll keep their cool under pressure.

"Get ready for a make-or-break adventure, because time really is money!"
