Dame Prue Leith watched Peep Show before filming the sitcom's reunion Bake Off Christmas special because she had "never even heard" of the programme.

For the first time since the series wrapped in 2015, Olivia Colman (Sophie Chapman) and David Mitchell reunite with a few of their castmates from the series - which followed the lives of dysfunctional best friends, Mark Corrigan (David) and Jeremy 'Jez' Usbourne (Robert Webb).

The duo, Isy Suttie (Dobby), Matt King (Super Hans) and Sophie Winkleman (Big Suze) will be tested on their baking skills in a series of tasks that pay tribute to Peep Show, under the watchful eye of judges Paul Hollywood, 59, and 85 year old Prue.

One of the challenges sees the stars recreate their favourite moments from the comedy programme in cake form, and Prue had to watch Peep Show before filming to understand the references in the Showstopper creations.

The food expert admitted in the new issue of Woman's Own magazine: "I had never even heard of Peep Show. Please don't tell them!

"But I watched it, and I loved it."

In March 2024, Prue - who replaced Dame Mary Berry, 90, as a judge on The Great British Bake Off when it moved from the BBC to Channel 4 in 2017 - stepped back from the celebrity version of the show because she needed a break.

And now, Prue has admitted she hardly knew any of the stars that took part in the specials - apart from actors the renowned TV chef adores.

She said: "To be honest, I'm normally bluffing my head off with the celebrities because I don't watch any telly.

"The only ones I'm likely to know are actors of a certain age!"

David, 51, Olivia, 51, Isy, 41, Matt, 57, and Sophie, 45, will roll up their sleeves as they tackle a series of challenges - hangable biscuits in the Signature, a Boxing Day staple in the Technical, and their Peep Show cake tribute in the Showstopper.

And in 2026, bakers from series past will reunite - but with a twist.

Prue teased: "They are put into teams of two. The returning bakers always have a lovely time, and it's always interesting to find out what they have been up to."

Hosts Noel Fielding, 52, and Alison Hammond, 50, will also be part of the specials - with the Peep Show edition airing at 8pm on Christmas Day on Channel 4.
