Janet Street-Porter was left "lying on the floor liked a beached whale" after suffering a fall at ITV's studios on Tuesday (25.11.25).

The Loose Women panellist, 78, who underwent knee replacement surgery last month, took a tumble off a chair just minutes before she was due to appear on Tuesday's GMB episode, but she declared herself "fine".

Speaking to GMB co-hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls, she said: "I'm alright, I managed to get up incredibly early, get myself altogether, get to this building.

"I was all ready, then I went to sit down on my chair and I fell off it!

"And I was lying on the floor like a beached whale.

"But I'm fine.

"It was only a minor fall, I just slid sideways off my chair."

Janet also suffered another fall last week when her own luggage knocked her over.

Following the tumble, she was left lying on the floor "like a porpoise" begging for help from passers-by.

She said: "Last week, my own luggage knocked me over.

"I came back to London after my knee replacement and recuperation, and I was in the basement of my block of flats, and as I pressed the lift thing, my wheelie bag knocked me over and I lay on the floor like a porpoise going, 'Help me!' "

Despite her falls, Janet is making good progress with her knee replacement surgery recovery.

She added: "I had my knee replacement four weeks ago today and I was back on Loose Women last week after three weeks.

"I was walking within two hours of the operation.

"I woke up in the hospital and thought, 'I am going to go to the loo without a stick. I will make it.' "

Asked by Susanna if she made it, she said: "Yes!"

Susanna admitted she was "worried" about Janet, who said: "I once blazed the way for getting old gracefully".

The TV presenter replied: "Yes, quite right."
