Doctor Who stars Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill reuniting for new podcast
Arthur Darvill has revealed he and Karen Gillan are working on a new podcast reminiscing on their time together on Doctor Who.
Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill are reuniting for a new Doctor Who themed podcast.
The two actors - who rose to fame as husband and wife duo Amy Pond and Rory Williams during Matt Smith's spell as the Time Lord - have stayed close over the years, and they're set to relive their days in the TARDIS together on The Pondcast.
Arthur told RadioTimes.com: "We really get on and we catch up quite often, and we had such a good time [on Doctor Who].
"It was so long ago and we've forgotten so much that happened, but it was such a formative thing, that we feel now that we're able to look back and celebrate it."
The 43-year-old star admitted he hasn't actually watched "half of" their tenure on the iconic BBC show, so he's excited to "rewatch it and talk about it".
He said: "I'm slightly nervous, but also, because it was so long ago, it feels like a different person.
"So I feel ready to watch some stuff. I've seen a lot of it, but there's some episodes I've never seen. So it will be a complete surprise."
Although there is no launch date, the pair have been getting stuck in and even landed former showrunner Steven Moffat as a guest.
Arthur added: "We've recorded a few episodes already and it's really fun.
"It is just me and Karen messing around so I'm not quite sure how many new facts you'll get, but it's really nice to kind of go back and reminisce about it."
The news comes days after confirmation Disney+ will no longer be involved with Doctor Who following its two-season partnership with the BBC.
In October 2022, the streamer struck a deal with the corporation to become the global home for the show outside the UK and Ireland, with the BBC remaining its exclusive home in the UK.
With Disney+ exiting the TARDIS on the next season of the sci-fi show, the corporation remains fully committed to the programme.
The BBC has announced a Christmas 2026 special, with plans for the next series being confirmed in due course.
Lindsay Salt, Director of Drama, BBC, said: "We can assure fans, the Doctor is not going anywhere, and we will be announcing plans for the next series in due course, which will ensure the TARDIS remains at the heart of the BBC."
