ITV 'plan to renew Bullseye for second series'
Bullseye producer Laura Wood has teased details of the next series.
ITV is planning to renew Bullseye for a second series.
The TV show - which is fronted by former sports star Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff - has proven to be a hit with viewers and ITV are now putting plans in place to make a second series of the reboot.
Bullseye producer Laura Wood has revealed that the next series will feature a new line-up of darts professionals.
Laura told the talkSPORT podcast: "Everyone wanted to be on Bullseye and, especially today, the female players do.
"It’s great to have Fallon Sherrock and we’ll hopefully have some more females on in the next series."
The show was originally launched in the 1980s and was previously hosted by Jim Bowen.
Laura is thrilled that the revamped show has managed to retain some of Bullseye's original charm.
She said: "Obviously, it’s gone from a half-hour show to a full hour. (But) I feel this version of Bullseye is very true to the origins of the show."
Meanwhile, Freddie recently admitted that he returned to TV work because of his long-standing love of Bullseye.
The former England cricket captain sustained serious injuries while filming Top Gear back in 2022, and Freddie decided to step back from TV for a period of time.
Freddie told The Sun newspaper: "I’ve not done much TV recently, I’d not presented anything and did Bullseye for a few reasons.
"One, I really like darts. And I used to watch Bullseye back in the ’80s. I never thought that I’d get the chance to present Bullseye. I always wanted to be a cricketer, I didn’t want to be Jim Bowen.
"It was fun when we did the Christmas special last year and it seemed to be really well received.
"If you like darts and want to see people try and win something, have a watch."
Freddie also relished the experience of working with the big-name darts players.
He said: "We’ve got them all on there. All the big names. Stephen Bunting was messaging me after the first Christmas special went out saying, 'Get us on Bullseye.'
"Michael van Gerwen is on. I’ve met him before and he’s one of the great darts players."
