Greg Davies and Alex Horne are set to return with a double helping of Taskmaster festivities this year.

The show’s New Year Treat is expanding to two episodes over the holiday season for the first time, according to Channel 4.

They will feature a fresh line-up of five celebrity contestants who will face the usual mix of bizarre and inventive challenges under the watchful eyes of judges Greg and Alex.

The participants have yet to be announced, but the broadcaster said both episodes would air over the Christmas and New Year period.

In addition to the festive editions, the show’s Champion of Champions edition will return with a line-up of previous winners competing for the series’ ultimate title.

This year’s contenders will include Sam Campbell, John Robins, Andy Zaltzman and Mathew Baynton.

They will be joined by the winner of Taskmaster’s current twentieth series, who will be revealed on 13 November at 9 pm on Channel 4.

The new specials come as Taskmaster’s twentieth season draws to a close, with the programme continuing to enjoy strong ratings and a loyal following.

Created by Alex and hosted by Davies, it has spent years tasking comedians and celebrities with completing eccentric and creative challenges, with comedian Greg presiding as the all-powerful Taskmaster and Alex serving as his assistant beside his “throne”.

Fans eager to attend the recordings of the upcoming specials will be able to register through the show’s mailing list for priority access to audience tickets.

To make ticketing fairer, producers have introduced guaranteed entry tickets for sale, with proceeds going to three charities selected by Davies and Horne.

The upcoming festive season has also been preceded by the launch of a Taskmaster Advent Calendar, offering 24 days of puzzles, games and “delightful chaos”.

They proved so popular they sold out within three weeks of release, with buyers from across the globe – including the United States and the Philippines – snapping them up.

Taskmaster continues on Thursday (30.10.25) evening, showing at 9 pm on Channel 4.
