Olly Murs will forever be grateful to ITV for helping him become a global star.

The 41-year-old singer-songwriter reflected on his career success - which started in 2009 on The X Factor, where he finished as a runner-up - while the network celebrates its 70th birthday.

Olly exclusively told BANG Showbiz at the 2025 Variety Club Showbusiness Awards: "Honestly, they've been there from the very beginning.

"And over the years, not just The X Factor, I've worked on The Voice, I've worked on various shows of theirs, and they've had me on other shows.

"Recently, I was on The Masked Singer. It's a really beautiful channel. I love it. The people are great. The team is great. I've just been really fortunate to grow a really good friendship there.

"And they've really helped my career alongside my music, really. Working that balance between TV and music has really worked. And ITV has always supported that."

The Troublemaker singer bagged the Variety Club Silver Heart Award 2025 for Outstanding Contribution to Music at the 2025 Variety Club Showbusiness Awards on Sunday (19.10.25) night, held at The Londoner Hotel, Leicester Square, London.

The Variety Club Showbusiness Awards are an annual celebration of exceptional entertainment, recognising the achievements of top talent across film, TV, comedy, theatre, and music, while supporting the work of Variety, the Children's Charity, by raising funds to transform the lives of children with disabilities and disadvantages across the UK.

Among the award winners on the night was 68-year-old actor Sir Stephen Fry, who picked up the Variety Club Silver Heart Award 2025 for Outstanding Contribution to Theatre and Film.

And Olly joked he only attended the prestigious event to get all of the Celebrity Traitors gossip out of Stephen - who is currently taking part in the star-studded version of the BBC's ultimate game of backstabbing, betrayal, and deceit as a Faithful.

Olly quipped: "I'm looking forward to bending Stephen Fry's ear about what happens in [Celebrity] Traitors - it's the only reason why I'm here!"

So far, three celebrities - broadcaster Jonathan Ross, 64, comedian Alan Carr, 49, and 25-year-old singer-songwriter Cat Burns - are playing as Traitors, and the other 16 stars are working together to figure out who they are to avoid them stealing the prize pot at the end of the series.

In the latest episode of Celebrity Traitors, a few stars correctly suspected at the Round Table - where the cast dish their honest views - that Jonathan is a Traitor, but instead, 54-year-old broadcaster Clare Balding got banished because she got the most votes from her cast members.

And Olly could not believe Jonathan survived another day as a Traitor.

Olly said: "[The show's] amazing! I just think how Jonathan got out of not getting banished, recently, in the last episode - sorry for any spoilers - and the fact that he got away with it, I really thought he was under the cosh.

"Everyone seems to be voting for each other, so I think Jonathan played it really well. Alan Carr is amazing. Cat's gone under the radar, and it's just a really fascinating show.

"I've enjoyed it very much."
