Hugh Dennis is interested in signing up for Celebrity Traitors.

The 63-year-old comedian and actor has known Sir Stephen Fry for almost 40 years, and he is open to the idea of following in his footsteps by joining the hit BBC game of bluff and deceit.

Asked if he'd take part, he told the Metro newspaper's 60 Seconds column: "Probably - why not?

"In terms of how I'd do, I just don't know. Or rather I'm not willing to say in case that gives people a steer."

Sir Stephen has been cast as a Faithful for the UK's first celebrity edition of the show, alongside the likes of Kate Garraway, Clare Balding and Mark Bonnar.

Hugh is currently starring alongside the AGE-year-old veteran in The Importance of Being Earnest at London's Noel Coward Theatre.

He said: "We've known each other since about 1987, and it si lovely working with him, he's got exactly the kind of gravitas Lady Bracknell needs and he clearly understands every nuance of the script.

"There are a lot of weird parellels with our careers. In the 90s he and Hugh Laurie - ne version of Steve and Hugh - were on BBC2, and Steve Punt and I - the other version of Steve and Hugh - were on BBC1.

"We also had the same agents. But there was never any sense of rivalry. I used to find Fry and Laurie so funny."

Looking to the future, Hugh didn't dismiss the idea of Outnumbered returning in the future, after the show made a comeback in 2024 after eight years for a festive special.

He said: "I don't know but one of the things that made Outnumbered very good was that it was always about a particular stage of life, in which things were happening.

"So if it were ever to come back, you'd have to find an interesting thing for it to be about."
