Yvette Fielding is moving out of her once-haunted house.

The paranormal investigator and her husband, 58-year-old TV director Karl Beattie, have lived in their creepy Tudor detached house, located in the Cheshire countryside, for 23 years.

But after they "fell in love" with Devon when they used to own a "holiday cottage" there, the smitten couple have decided to relocate from North West England to South West England.

Yvette wrote in her guest column in the new issue of Woman's Weekly magazine: "We're moving.

"We had a really lovely holiday cottage in Devon and fell in love with it, so our plan is to move there from Cheshire.

"I want to keep writing and gardening, and Karl is a cartoonist, so we'll live a quiet life.

"Hopefully, someone will fall in love with our house; it needs a family."

The star - who became a household name back in 1987 aged 18 when she became the youngest presenter of BBC's Blue Peter, and then went on to host the paranormal reality show Most Haunted in 2002 - previously claimed her and Karl's Cheshire house is haunted.

She said that ghosts, including a Cavalier called Charles Deacon and two small children named Master Benjamin and Elizabeth, also lived with her and Karl - who work together on Most Haunted.

In 2022, Yvette - who performed seances in the garden shed, and claimed the dining room saw the table fly to the other side of the room - told OK! magazine: "When we moved in 20 years ago, we’d hear knocking at the door but there’d be no one there, and we’d find the kitchen chairs stacked on top of the table in a pyramid."

The star also said she felt nervous about being home alone.

Yvette added: "I tell them, ‘I’m on my own and you know I get freaked out, so be nice.'"

The TV host - who has a daughter named Mary, 24, with Karl, and a son called William, 30, whom she has with her ex-husband Barry Sweeny - found a mummified cat under the bathtub.

And when she and Karl removed it, it caused problems.

Yvette explained: "We removed the cat once, and all hell broke loose.

"Everything that could go wrong did. It was placed there to protect the house, so there it will stay."

However, Yvette also mentioned in her guest column for the latest issue of Woman's Weekly magazine that her and Karl's Cheshire home is no longer haunted.

She said: "There's not a peep in our house now.

"I did a blessing and since then, nothing."
