EastEnders star Lacey Turner has loved being reunited with Jake Wood.

The 53-year-old actor - who plays Max Branning - has recently returned to the BBC soap, and Lacey has relished the experience of working with Jake once again.

Lacey told the BBC: "I love working with Jake, I always have.

"It’s amazing that you can just pick up where you left off, and it’s always interesting to watch them both together because there’s always something sizzling underneath for both of them. So, you can play so much in little things such as looks.

"It’s rare to have a story that has that much history, and that is still being played out today, but that’s the beauty of shows like EastEnders.

"It’s lovely that we can pick and choose those little moments."

Michelle Ryan has also returned to the soap in recent times, and Lacey has loved working with the 41-year-old actress, who plays Zoe Slater.

Lacey said: "I love Zoe and Stacey together. When they were younger, all they did was argue and wind each other up, and that hasn’t changed!"

Asked about the experience of working with Michelle, Lacey added: "It has just been the best to work with Michelle again. She’s amazing, and I love Zoe and Stacey together."

Earlier this month, Jake revealed that his EastEnders comeback triggers "drama and chaos" in Albert Square.

The actor said: "I knew that Michelle was coming back – really pleased that she was coming back and she wasn't being recast ... iconic character. And I think it's really interesting to have Max in the mix; it makes everything so much more complicated. I do return for a little bit. It's quite soon before my sort of permanent return, and there's lots of drama and chaos to issue."

Jake has enjoyed working with Michelle on their storyline.

He said: "[The flashback storyline] works really well. You get a lot of exposition, a lot of the explanation of the relationship, so by the time Max turns up proper, there's already an established relationship between the two of them. It's just been a joy."
