Glen Powell got "hit in the face" by a bouncer and kicked out of the afterparty for his own movie.

The 'Top Gun: Maverick' actor was still relatively unknown when he appeared in 'The Expendables 3' alongside a string of action movie legends, and despite being on the film poster and having his face on "all these character banners", bouncers failed to recognise him when he was celebrating the project at a party at the Cannes Film Festival.

He recalled to The Hollywood Reporter: “I did this movie ‘Expendables 3’ — it’s like Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Antonio Banderas, Wesley Snipes, Jason Statham.

“Somehow I’m the random guy that snuck in. So I’m like the only unknown person in a cast of legends.

“I got kicked out of the VIP section of the ‘Expendables 3’ party. It actually got kind of physical. There was a large bouncer that was convinced that I shouldn’t be in the VIP section, so it kind of turned into a physical altercation where I got hit in the face at the ‘Expendables 3’ party ’cause no one recognised me even though there was a banner in the party of my face.”

He then jokingly added: “Just because you’ve got a banner doesn’t mean you’re getting in the party.”

Glen is always happy to promote his movies and thinks the more actors embrace their press commitments, the more enthusiastic audiences become.

He said: "So often actors look at marketing or publicity as, like, ‘Oh God, now I have to go market the movie? I just wanted to make it. '

"And then you look at a Margot Robbie or Ryan Reynolds, these actors who embrace marketing in unexpected ways, and what ends up happening is the audience has a blast while they’re publicizing a movie and then they’re desperate to see it.”
