Kacey Musgraves had "fun" singing in the nude on 'Saturday Night Live'.
The 35-year-old singer bared all on the sketch show in 2021 as a "metaphor for bearing [her] soul" and though she insisted her performance wasn't particularly sensational as her guitar covered her modesty, she admitted she still had to write a letter asking showrunner Lorne Michaels to approve the idea.
She told The Times newspaper: “No one could see anything — I had my guitar in front of me, so no nipples were flashed.
“I had to write a letter to Lorne [Michaels, the producer of SNL] to state my case. But it was fun, and sort of a metaphor for bearing your soul.”
The 'Space Cowboy' hitmaker previously undertook a seven-hour magic mushroom trip with a guide and credited the experience for giving her a lot of inspiration.
She said: “It’s a powerful tool, definitely not for everybody. It brought a lot of creative ideas.”
However, despite her previous advocacy for weed, Kacey admitted she goes easier on the "plants" now and favours wellness and meditation.
She said: “The older I get, the more I appreciate clarity.”
Meanwhile, Kacey joked she wants to "move to outer space" to avoid being asked about the upcoming US presidential election, as she doesn't believe her opinions would have any impact on how people vote.
She said: “Oh my God, I’m gonna move to outer space. Can none of them win? These are our best options here?”
Admitting she doesn't want to see Donald Trump return to the White House, she added: “But people are so rooted in what they believe that an artist saying, ‘Don’t vote for this guy,’ isn’t really going to change their mind. It just brings a lot of negativity your way. But it is tough when music is directly influenced by what is going on in the world.”
