Evan Handler felt "completely uncomfortable" when he was asked to get naked in 'Sex and The City'.

The actor played Harry Goldenblatt in the hit TV show and he felt blindsided him when he was asked to strip off for raunchy sex scenes as he'd never done it before - and he was baffled by the "c*** socks" offered by the wardrobe department to preserve his modesty.

Speaking on the 'Yeah, I F***** That Up' podcast, the 62-year-old actor explained: "It is weird that I started being called upon to do sex scenes, kiss women, and take off my clothes from 40 years on. What's that about? My inner dynamo was finally recognised ...

"'Sex and the City' was the first time I get a script - I'd already been doing some episodes - that [said], 'Scene 1: Harry naked, Harry naked, Harry naked,'" he recalled. I had never done that before."

"I don't even know the logistics of it. I don't know how it's done. I don't know how it's handled."

He added of the wardrobe department's special tricks: "I don't know anything at that point about the little flesh-coloured socks you tape on your crotch. You know, like privacy patches. The wardrobe department comes to you with a tray [and asks], 'Would you like to use this, this, this, or this?' There's literally one called the c*** sock, which you put over your d*** and tie in a knot."

Evan went on to insist nudity scenes in film and TV are now completely different following the introduction of intimacy co-ordinators who help the actors, but he confessed his early sec scenes felt "completely uncomfortable".

The actor went on to appear in saucy show 'Californication' and he felt like it was a totally different experience. He added: "I gotta say, the work on 'Californication' made me so much of a better actor than I ever was before because I had to push through inhibitions.

"It went from me being absolutely terrified of that night of [filming] the masturbation montage to, 'Okay, I need to come up with three fictional orgasms today. What would make it funny? How can I do this, how can I do that?'"
