Arshad Warsi thinks it is "weird" that 'Munna Bhai 3' "may not happen".

The 55-year-old actor starred as Circuit in 2003's 'Munna Bhai M.B.B.S' and 2006 follow-up 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai', but a proposed third movie, 'Munna Bhai Chale America', was cancelled after lead star Sanjay Dutt was convicted and jailed for illegal posession of weapons.

However, the 'Asur 2' star thinks the planned film should be resurrected because there is a demand from fans and both the cast and director Rajkumar Hirani want to make the movie.

He told India Today: "'Munna Bhai (3)' may not happen. This is the weirdest thing. We have a director who wants to make it, a producer who wants to produce it, an audience who wants to see it, actors who want to act in it and still it is not happening.”

But Arshad also admitted the "perfectionist" director isn't entirely convinced the script for the film is exactly right yet.

He added: "The thing is, Raju [Hirani] is insanely a perfectionist. He has three scripts which are brilliant but there are some glitches. So, till the time he is not 100-200 per cent sure of the script, he won’t start it.

" When you ask him, he will always say yes, never says no.

"He will say ['I am doing it…let the script get fixed, I don't like this, I don't like that']. Once he crosses that stage, he will start."

While the future of the 'Munna Bhai' series is uncertain, Arshad and Sanjat have reunited on an as-yet untitled film due for release this year.

Pictures released earlier this year showed the pair in jail uniforms behind bars.

Sidhaant Sachdev has directed the film, with Sanjay one of the producers.
