Will Arnett has replaced David Harbour in Behemoth!.

The Is This Thing On? actor will be joining lead actor Pedro Pascal and the likes of Olivia Wilde, Eva Victor, Matthew Lillard, Margarita Levieva and Alexa Swinton in the drama following the news the Stranger Things star has departed Tony Gilroy's movie for personal reasons.

Production began in late October but insiders told Deadline the scenes involving David that need to be reshot are minimal as he was doing a lot of press for the final season of Stranger Things at the time, and adding Will to the cast shouldn't make the shoot go on any longer than planned.

Exact details of the Behemoth! story have been kept under wraps by Searchlight Pictures, though it is believed that the film - which Tony also wrote and is co-producing - centres around a cellist.

Will has recently be celebrated for his work in Is This Thing On?, in which he plays Alex Novak, who becomes a stand-up comedian by chance while on the verge of divorcing wife Tess (Laura Dern).

Speaking about how he relates to the movie, Will - who has sons Archie, 17, and Abel, 15, with ex-wife Amy Schumer and Denny, five, with former partner Alessandra Brawn - admitted he could "connect" to some parts of his character.

He told The Hollywood Reporter: "Obviously, it’s not inspired by my story, but there are themes in there that I connect to.

"I’m just a sum of all of my own experiences, and you bring some of that into what you do. I mean, you try to be sensitive, but it would be weird if I didn’t connect dots on certain things."

Despite praise for the movie, it has largely been absent from awards shortlists, but Will - who also co-wrote and served as producer of the Bradley Cooper-directed comedy-drama film - isn't too upset.

He said: “I’m in this very weird place, where I feel like I’m running a race that I didn’t even ask to be running in, so how can I be disappointed? But then you hear like, ‘Hey, man, sorry you guys didn’t get any Golden Globe nominations,’ and you start to think, like, ‘Oh wait, am I disappointed? Do I need that validation? I just wanted to get a movie made.'

“You get wrapped up in it, and it’s all about are you on the right roundtable? Did you spend time talking to the right people? And I’m like, maybe I didn’t — or maybe I did, and they didn’t care.

“But I feel really proud of what we made, and it was transformative to me as a person. And if I’m Searchlight, I’m like [sarcastically], ‘Great, we needed to make a movie to help transform you.’ But it did, and I feel really good about it.”
